Marloes Reinink is the founder of Solid Green Consulting, which was awarded the first 6-Star Green Star SA Interiors v1 certification as well as LEED Platinum certification for Commercial Interiors for its own office in Rosebank, Johannesburg. A dynamic and energetic company enthusiastic about advancing sustainability in the built environment with a wealth of experience at their disposal, Solid Green offers property developers and building professionals a sophisticated range of consulting services to assist in achieving their green building goals.Â
Having worked in the green building sector for over fifteen years, Marloes has extensive experience in the field of sustainability in the Built Environment. Her early experience includes a Masters degree (MSc, TU/e), where she developed the Sustainable School Design Tool for the design of schools in rural areas in South Africa. Her second Masters degree dealt with Energy Efficiency Labelling programmes for South Africa (MArch, WITS).Â
During her subsequent time at the CSIR, the two main projects that she worked on were the ‘Sustainable Building Assessment Tool (SBAT)’ and the ‘Green Building Programme for Africa’.Â
She later went into consulting at GREEN by DESIGN, which became part of WSP, a leading multi-national engineering consultancy. She has been the sustainability consultant and Green Star expert on some ground breaking green building certification projects in South Africa, including Nedbank Phase II, that received the first Green Star SA Office v1 Design and As Built rating in South Africa, as well as Villa Mall Pretoria, which received the first Green Star SA Retail v1 Design rating.Â
