Regenerative Retrofit Story: ArchNexus SAC
Regenerative Retrofit Story: ArchNexus SAC
The Arch Nexus project team will present the story about the transformation of an old warehouse built in the 1950s into a Living Building. The Arch Nexus project is a case study in regenerative retrofit with lessons on various aspects of the process to getting a Living Building Certification especially in adaptive reuse. This building is in a region that faces urban sprawl as well as extreme events of floods, drought and fires. We will learn about how resilience finds expression in the design and construction of this project.Â
This project is an example of an integrated design process, approaches to dealing with the additional constraints brought about by an existing building and the role that occupants play in getting to and maintaining a low-carbon building solution. The project team will also share some insights on their approach to another remodeling office project underway that is pursuing a Living Building Certification.Â
Recorded:Â 25th March 2021
