Sustainable Precincts

As cities are growing and the urban population is outnumbering the rural population, cities face enormous challenges. Transportation, waste generation, energy and water consumption, food security and urban sprawl are some of the issues that must be dealt with. How can we create cities that are vibrant, economic hubs, inclusive environments, and minimise their ecological footprint? This presentation takes the participant through the challenges and opportunities around creating more sustainable cities and precincts. It includes the available rating tools for precinct or neighbourhood projects and shows examples of projects worldwide and locally that have made a step towards a sustainable precinct.
