Michelle Ludwig is founder of Ludwig Design Consulting (Pty) Ltd.
Her early experience includes commercial sustainable interior architecture in the United States with the firms of Hellmuth, Obata+ Kassabaum (HOK) and William McDonough & Partners (WMP). Settled in South Africa since 2006, she has worked locally as a Project Architect and has specialised as a green building consultant. Her 20-year experience in ‘green’ has included sustainable design and management of commercial and institutional projects, building certifications, materials evaluation and research, universal design for persons with disabilities, consulting and educating for the Green Building Council South Africa, lecturing at the University of Cape Town School of Architecture, and providing technical guidance and board member to EcoStandard, the South African product ecolabel.
She has been involved in and utilised green building rating tools for over 24 years and assists in the evolution and development of Green Star Tools. Further Green Star experience includes teaching the Green Star AP course and being contracted as an independent Assessor; and being invited to the Technical Advisory Group (TAG), Technical Working Group (TWG) and Expert Technical Reviewer for Green Star SA tools. She is currently developing built environment curriculums and courses for industry professionals.
